Jeremiah E. Reeves
Jeremiah E. Reeves was born in Dorsetshire, England in 1845. He emigrated to America in 1867 where he met his wife, Jane Rees, in Connselsville, Pennsylvania in 1869. Jeremiah first organized the Reeves Boiler Works with his brothers in Niles, Ohio in 1873. Then him and his brother, Jabez, took a stronger interest in the Dover Rolling Mill in 1882. The Dover Rolling Mill was unfortunately too unstable to continue so they sold it and moved to Dover, Ohio. In Dover they started the Reeves Iron Company, with Jeremiah heading the firm and Jabez as plant superintendent. The Reeves firm flourished, and by 1896 they had over 850 workers and was one of the largest industrial employers in the area. Jeremiah and his son, Samuel Reeves Sr. sold the local mill in the early 1900's. Jeremiah E. Reeves dies July 11, 1920 at his winter home in Palm Springs Florida.

Samuel Reeves Sr.
After Samuel and his father, Jeremiah, sold their mill to American Sheet and Tin Plate Company, he formed the Reeves Manufacturing Company in 1901. Samuel Reeves Sr. unfortunately died soon after, and his father had to take over his company. Samuel's company did turn out to a successful one though. In 1912, his company bought the Dover Forge and Iron Company, and four new mills were added along with new fabricating plants.
