Mr. Reeves bought this old farmhouse in 1898, and took three years to remodel and design the house into what it is today. The house was built in 1870 by Valentine Wills, on what used to be canal port in Dover. Jeremiah reeves looked at the house and saw prosperity considering it was so close to rolling mills. He was right on about the house bringing him prosperity, the rolling mills allowed him a successful career in steel manufacturing. As Reeves became known in Dover for his business, the hill on which the house was built became known as "Reeves Heights".
This beautiful home, with its spacious rooms and high ceilings, has 21 rooms. During the 1940's, Jeremiah and Jane's daughter Agnes, did her own version of modernizing it. Because of those updates, the Dover Historical Society has done some restoration in order to get it closer to its original appearance.
